GRAND MARSHAL OF 66TH ANNUAL SANTA PARADE ANNOUNCED!!
(by Downtown Associates of North Attleborough)

Every year we receive so many worthy nominations that it is difficult to choose just one. This year, after careful consideration and review, Mark Gilmore has been selected as the Grand Marshal of the 66th annual Santa Parade. Congratulations Mark!!
He was nominated by his daughters Erin and Ashley...
After reading his nomination, we're sure you'll agree with our selection. "Our dad was born and raised in North Attleboro. After he married our mother, Sue, who was from Attleboro, they settled in Attleboro only to realize the error of their ways and move back a couple years later. Our parents raised all 4 of us in this amazing town; each of us North Attleboro High School graduates (2000, 2002, 2005, and 2010). They are still living here in town 36+ years later.
Our dad has always been an active member of this community. From Little League coaching to umpiring in his later years, LNAL has been in his blood from the beginning. He was also active in Park & Rec Softball for my sister and I as well as coaching me through my many years of bowling at North Bowl Lanes. He was a cub scout and boy scout leader for years and years, even seeing my older brother through Eagle Scout.
Our dad has been or currently is always involved in some sort of community outreach program. He has been a part of different church serve teams as well as tirelessly volunteering for the Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children for many years. He never says no to an opportunity to serve this town.
A stroke in 2018 changed his life quite a bit. Having to “retire” early was not in his plans and although he can no longer work full time, he gets up every morning with a smile on his face and heads out to Martin School as a town crossing guard. He absolutely loves seeing the kids safely across the street, always with a smile and an encouraging word for a good day ahead. He knows their faces and their names, and he proudly stands there in his bright yellow jacket with his stop sign in hand, ready to make sure they are safely across Landry Ave.
Most importantly though, our dad is a neighbor to EVERYONE. You need help? He’s the one to ask. One of our neighbors and I were chatting a few weeks ago and she said to me, “I want to get your dad a sign that says, ‘you’re the neighbor everyone wishes they had’” and it made me smile because no truer words could be said for him. He will always stop what he is doing to help someone else without hesitation. Our father is one of the greatest examples of integrity and the hardest working man you’ll ever meet. His love and devotion for his family, his town, and his neighbors will always shine brightly."
The 66th annual Santa Parade, sponsored by Bristol County Savings Bank, and division sponsors W H Riley & Son and Mackie's Family Restaurant takes place on Sunday, November 28th. The Parade steps off at 3:00 pm from Baptist Common, travels through the center of town and ends at Veterans Park in front of Town Hall.
Following the Parade, the winners of the Float Competition will be announced at the Gazebo and Santa will light the town Christmas tree. This year's annual Tree Lighting Ceremony is sponsored by Box Seats Restaurant.
Following the tree lighting, Santa will be available for "take your own pictures" at Bristol Lodge A.F. & A.M. Parade commentary and coverage is provided by North TV. This is such a fun time of year, we look forward to seeing you there!!
