Timeless Treasures, A Holiday House Tour,
hosted by North Attleborough Historical Commission
The Town of North Attleborough Historical Commission who is responsible for the identification, preservation and protection of historical and archaeological assets in North Attleborough is hosting a historic houses tour on Sunday, December 11, 2011. On the slate are eleven historical properties in North Attleborough.

The oldest occupied home on the tour is from 1840 and the “newest” is from 1912. Many of the homes were originally built by owners and workers in the jewelry factories that were established in the area in the late 1800s. According to Sarah Franklin, Tour CoChairperson, “The current owners have added their own touches and flair but most have taken the idea of stewardship of the homes very seriously. The homes tend to have all the modern conveniences with the craftsmanship of another era.”

The list of houses on the tour will be available on tour day but some top secret information has been made available. One of the homes was originally owned by a direct descendant of Myles Standish, a Mayflower passenger and another home took over seven years to build by imported European craftsmen. One of the homes used to be a local funeral parlor while another was given as a wedding gift. All of the homeowners are allowing visitors to explore at least the first floors of the homes and enjoy the holiday decorations.

Advance Tickets are$20/person and $23/per person on the day of the event are available online at http://nattleboro.com/historical.  In addition tickets can be purchased at Preservation Framers, downtown North Attleborough, Supply New England Kitchen and Bath Gallery, Triboro Plaza; Kensington Real Estate , Route 152 Attleboro and at North Attleborough Town Hall on Thursday from 4-6pm. Proceeds of this event will benefit the projects of the North Attleborough Historical Commission. Tickets can be purchased at the Town Hall on Dec. 11 from Noon to 3p.m.

Everyone will exchange their ticket at the town hall on the day of the tour from noon to 3 pm for the tour booklet which will have a map to show the locations of the houses.
