Celebrate National Hotdog Month!

How to Celebrate

National Hotdog Month!

July is National Hot Dog Month. See how many things or ideas you can come up with for this "summer food" month.

Steps

  1. Browse around the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council homepage.  They have anything from the history of the hot dog, to how a hot dog is made, and even quizzes to tinkle your hot dog knowledge.
  2. Hold a hot dog eating contest with your friends and family. Hot dogs are best served with lemonade, iced tea, or cola.
  3. Know the correct etiquette for eating a hot dog.
Never use utensils and always squirt the condiments on the hot dog meat itself, not the bun.
  4. Experiment and taste different versions and styles from a natural hot dog. What makes a Chicago hot dog different from a Milwaukee brat? Try different condiments on a hot dog that you've never tried before.
  5. Learn and teach yourself different methods of how to cook hot dogs. If you're in a rush, roll the individual hot dog in a paper towel and heat it in the microwave for 40 to 50 seconds. You can also enjoy a barbecue and grill hot dogs over an open fire.

    Warnings:
  • Because hot dogs are from processed meats, it's not advisable to eat hot dogs on a constant basis.
